Here's what Kelsey had to say about the trip: "While we took some time our first day to explore the beauty and history of such an iconic city in our country, most of our extended weekend was spent listening to the biggest and brightest minds in Drosophila biology share their research. I was blown away by some of the emerging technology and techniques introduced in the talks. They really stimulated a wealth of new ideas and directions in which we could expand the TreadWheel experiment to answer new and exciting questions. I was also able to meet other researchers in the field of fly exercise and metabolism for the first time. To say I was a little star struck when a couple of them came to visit us at our poster would be an understatement. Overall, this conference was such an edifying experience that helped introduce me to a wide variety of questions that fly research is currently answering and hopes to resolve soon. Thank you Laura for such a wonderful chance to meet and share ideas with various members and leaders of the fly community!"
